Some Wisconsin Commerative Quarters Flawed; Worth More

Coin collectors are flipping ... over some special-issue Wisconsin quarters that appear to have a leafy mistake.

The U-S Mint printed 453 million Wisconsin quarters last year between October and December.

Coin dealers have noticed that a rare few seem to have an extra cornstalk leaf on the tail side, pointing either up or down.

No one is sure whether the leaf is intentional or just a flaw in the die.

Rick Snow is a Tucson, Arizona coin dealer. He says coins with the extra leaf have been selling for up to 600-dollars apiece.

Dealers say the flawed coins were probably minted in Denver ... which explains why they have only shown up down south in Arizona and Texas.

US Mint spokesman Mike White says the mint is looking into how the extra leaf may have gotten there.
