Lake Express Officials Promise Smoother Ride in Ferry's Second Season

A 450-thousand dollar investment promises to make the Lake Express ferry trip across Lake Michigan a smoother ride.

Company officials say they plan to place two computer-controlled "T-foil" ride stabilizers on the ferry.

The stabilizers are designed to dampen the boat's side-to-side rolls and sharp up-and-down movements in high winds and waves.

Last year, some passengers on the ferry between Milwaukee and Muskegon, Michigan experienced motion sickness when the two-and-a-half-hour trip encountered rough seas.

Several summer and fall trips were canceled because the lake conditions were too severe for safety and comfort.

The ferry is set to begin its second season on May 14th.
