A Marathon County jury has found a Wausau woman guilty of causing the death of a 14-month-old boy she was baby-sitting nearly three years ago.
The jury of six men and six women deliberated for four-and-a-half hours before finding Tammy Millerleile guilty in the March 2002 death of Jake Mentink.
The 31-year-old married mother of three faces up to 60 years in prison for first-degree reckless homicide.
In closing arguments, district attorney Jill Falstad told the jury Jake was a defenseless little child, and Millerleile took out her frustration on him by shaking him until he stopped crying.
She claimed the boy suffered the fatal injury in a fall down some stairs.
Prosecutors will get input from the family before preparing their sentencing arguments.
Jake's parents were in court every day of the five-day trial.
The judge allowed the defendant to remain free on 15-thousand dollars cash bail pending sentencing.
