Transportation Funding

Western Wisconsin will recieve $16 million in federal funding to support highway projects across the region.

Over the next six years, the Transportation Equity Act will provide more than $200 million for transportation projects statewide.

Representative Ron Kind says the bill will enhance the efficiency of interstate commerce and alleviate commute congestion.

Seven million dollars will be used to reconstruct the Saint Croix River Crossing--which connects Wisconsin Highway 64 to Minnesota Highway 36.

An additional $4 million will be used to widen State Highway 64 between Houlton and New Richmond.

The bill also provides funding for the reconstruction of Highway 21 at the I-94 interchange, and the expansion of U.S. Highway 151 between Dickeyville and Belmont.
