Eight people have died from a shooting Saturday afternoon at a church meeting at the Sheraton hotel in Brookfield, including the gunman himself.
Brookfield police say a 45-year-old gunman who lives in Waukesha County apparently shot and killed himself.
Chief Daniel Tushaus says the man showed up at the meeting and used a handgun to shoot about a dozen people.
Four victims died at the scene. They are a 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy, a 72-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman.
Seven people were taken to area hospitals and three of them died later in the afternoon. The three men were 44, 50 and 58.
The shooting was reported to police at 12-51 p-m.
Tushaus says the Living Church of God based in North Carolina has been holding meetings at the Sheraton for the past few years.
The suspect was a member of the church.
