US Attorney For Western Wisconsin Resigns

The U-S attorney in Wisconsin's Western District announced his resignation Tuesday as he contemplates a run for state attorney general.

J.B. Van Hollen has been U-S attorney in the 44-county district since 2002.

He'll leave at the end of the month. He hasn't ruled out a run for attorney general. Peg Lautenschlager's term ends next year.

Van Hollen says he's most proud of his methamphetamine prosecutions and the help his office has given to local law enforcement agencies battling the drug's proliferation in western Wisconsin.
