The four suspects charged with kidnapping and assaulting a 17 year-old appeared in Eau
Claire County court this morning.
Lashamby Rayborn, Demond Johnson and Fredrick Johnson pleaded not guilty to charges including taking a hostage and physical abuse of a child.
A fourth suspect, Catherine Clingensmith, stood mute to the charges and a not guilty plea was entered for her by judge lisa stark.
Police say the suspects held a 17-year-old against his will over a $150 drug debt and beat him with a baseball bat and pool cue before attempting to exchange him in return for the same amount of money from his parents.
A trial date has been set for early April.
