Two Marines might be able to wear their military uniforms to their graduation ceremony in Mosinee because of a petition drive by the mother of one of the soldiers. Mosines is next to Wausau in Marathon County.
The school board has voted to change a policy that prevented the Marines from wearing their dress blues for the June fifth ceremony. The board will need to take a second vote next month to make the change.
James Moeller and Jon Carroll completed their high school requirements early so they could join the service. They're at boot camp right now in San Diego.
Moeller's mom, Michelle Oxendorf, helped circulate a petition after learning that the school board was unlikely to change its policy and allow active service members to wear their uniforms to high school graduation.
Former Marine sergeant Kevin Hermening -- a school board member -- voted for the change
