The Democrat party turnout for the Super Tuesday caucuses in Minnesota exceeded 200,000.
That is more than triple the turnout for the 2004 caucuses.
On the Republican side, attendance neared 50,000.
Illinois Senator Barack Obama and former Massachusetts governor, Mitt Romney are winners in Minnesota. Analysts say Wisconsin could now play a key role in the nominations.
Geoff Peterson, a UW-Eau Claire political science professor says, "Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia votes next week and then it's us, so at this point, I think its safe to say the Republican primary in Wisconsin probably won't matter as much as the Democratic primary.”
“Its unlikely that we'll have a sense of either Hillary or Obama being ahead by the time [the primary] gets to Wisconsin, but unless something drastic happens, I think its fairly clear McCain already has things pretty close to locked up."
Barack Obama's campaign manager says the Illinois senator will be spending a lot of time in Wisconsin following the primaries in other states.
