Tourism money flowing into the Chippewa Valley remained steady last year due in part to cool wet summer weather.

The Chippewa Valley convention and visitors bureau reports three hundred and ten million dollars were spent in 2004 between Eau Claire, Dunn and Chippewa Counties.

A large portion of that money, according to tourism officials, comes from the area's summertime music festivals like Rockfest and Country Jam, which go on rain or shine.

But not all attractions fared so well, camping and resorts were hit with losses in tourism spending due mostly to rainy and cold summer weather.

The state tourism report also attributed more than eight thousand jobs in the area to tourism.

Overall, tourism spending statewide remained level accounting for about forty million dollars in revenue.
