Accumulating snow means another day off for some students in Wisconsin.
Snow-covered roads have closed Viroqua, Westby, Hillsboro and other school districts in western Wisconsin.
In the northeast, Waupaca, Shawano, New London and Clintonville are among districts closing Thursday. For some students, it will be a long weekend because the annual teacher's convention is scheduled Friday.
The National Weather Service issued a heavy snow warning in northern and central Wisconsin through Thursday night. A snow advisory was posted in central and southern counties.
Forecasters expected 6 to 8 inches of snow in parts of central Wisconsin and 3 to 5 inches north of Milwaukee.
