An Eau Claire Firefighter made an unusual water rescue on Sunday.
The fire department was dispatched to a possible person through the ice near the Rod and Gun Park around 12:30 p.m.
But, firefighters quickly realized that it was a dog that was in need of some help.
Battalion Chief, Kim Nessel, says the 8-month-old golden retriever, named Blaze, had gotten into some open water.
He says a firefighter used a cold water rescue suit to get Blaze back on shore.
We spoke with the canine's owner Sunday night. She says Blaze is doing just fine and is back to playing.
