The Eau Claire City Council says the Eau Claire Fire Department can provide ambulance service to the towns of Brunswick, Pleasant Valley, Union and Washington.

The Council already approved covering 911 calls in Altoona.

Fire Chief Ed Kassing says the state EMS board still has to approve the deals. But, he says service could start by early next month.

The Council also said yes to accepting $150,000 a year from Luther Midelfort, Sacred Heart and Marshfield Clinic to help pay for these costs.

I am sure glad the the Residents outside the City limits can use the service the Eau Claire Residents have to pay for. I am sure it costs more than $2500.00 for City Residents. I bet the Fire Dept will be asking for money to overcome the shortfall next year.
