Our country has product safety inplace for everything except guns. You can buy a rifle without a criminal background check and private citizens can sell or give a gun to whomever they choose and not request a criminal background check. This is how felons and children are obtaining guns. SB104 would help end felons and children access to guns.

Johnny there was only one SWAT team on scene and the EC County vehicle is a federally financed regional response vehicle assigned to all of NW Wisconsin. The vehicle is centrally kept and maintained by the Eau Claire Sheriff. Great Job to all involved.

It's frightening to think that this can happen in a small town like Cameron. We're supposed to be protected from incidents like this. It only goes to show that with the evolving times we must adapt to the big city crimes coming to small towns.

Moses was extremly depressed, intoxicated, and armed with his brother's 30-06. His intentions were to kill himself. Barron County has some of the best Deputies/Officers in the State of Wisconsin. Hey Johnny... When the VILLAGE of Cameron (population 1600) needs assistance with a mentally sick subject who locks himself in a motel room...I really dont think any agency would be 100% capable of dealing with that kind of situation without help

Does anyone know the who's or why's of the situation?

I, for one, am very happy to know that the Cameron police were thinking of public safety enough to call in help when they knew they needed it. Great job to all involved. I would hope the police in my city would do the same.

I knew some of the cops that were on scene and I'm glad we have people like them looking out for us. The incident ended with no one - cops, citizens, or suspect - getting hurt and that's the best outcome for situations like this. Thank you officers!

Johnny Until you've done it, dont talk about it. The police utilize resources from as far away as "they " need to. A small police department does not typicaly have the personel to accomplish this type of mission. If you knew what you are talking about you'd realize that the sheriffs department team was brought in to handle the situation. The same thing would happen in Lake Hallie given the same circumstances.

Wake up folks, keep your homes safe. It can happen anywhere at any time. Respect your law enforcement, they are out there protecting (all) of us.

fyi johnny, cameron has one cop per shift. its a small town, its not like eau claire, takes 2 minutes to drive thru cameron regardless what direction you come from, so to answer your question, yes, we did need help.

Johnny, get a clue. It's the job of the Police to protect the community. Why take an unnecessary risk. Swat is specially trained to resolve situations like this, and it ended in a safe manner.

I am one of the lucky ones that actually have a police scanner so I know not to go anywhere if I didn't have to. No hostages. What they described as his rifle was from what I understand just like a hunting riffle.

regardless of the incident, i just want to thank the law enforcement for thinking of our safety first. This little town dont get on the news very often, but, they did what they were trained to do and kept our loving community safe. i as well as several have gotten mad at a cop over a ticket, but THANK YOU for protecting our community.
