It's the second time in the last two years Rice Lake schools have asked voters for help.
According to the last vote totals, it failed, 2,953 to 1,413. However, Superintendent Paul Vine says the vote totals are not official results.
Vine says the district has been in the planning stages for this referendum for several years.
Paul Vine says, "It's actually been discussed for about 10 years in dealing with some of the inequities we have at the elementary school level."
Actual Wording Of The Rice Lake Referendum:
"BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of the Rice Lake Area School District, Barron, Rusk and Washburn Counties, Wisconsin that there shall be issued pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $29,000,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of acquiring land; constructing a new middle school; remodeling Hilltop Elementary School and Rice Lake Middle School to accommodate elementary students; remodeling, improvement and repair projects at Rice Lake High School; various other remodeling and site improvements at other District buildings and sites; and acquiring furnishings, fixtures and equipment."
