A Marathon County family credits its barking dogs for helping them escape a house fire Wednesday night.
The owner of the home south of Mosinee says the dogs started barking after the family went to bed after 9 p.m.
A family member says they went to the living room and heard crackling sounds coming from the ceiling.
Once the family looked outside, they say they saw flames shooting from the roof.
