Wisconsin Residents Hold Very Low Opinion Of Politicians' Interests

A new poll shows Wisconsinites are increasingly skeptical about the ethical standards of their elected officials.

A survey of 600 residents by the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute shows only 6% of Wisconsinites say politicians most often represent their interests.

The majority of those polled think their elected officials are more concerned with themselves and special interests than the public good.

Forty-seven percent say politicians represent their own interests, while 41% say elected officials cater to special interests.

Residents also find ethical standards for politicians at the national, state and local level are declining.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.
