A family member says 20-year-old Army Specialist Steven Christofferson of Cudahy was killed. But, details are still sketchy.
Christofferson was a 2006 graduate of Cudahy High School, where he played football, wrestled and ran track.
Principal Chris Haeger says Christofferson was very excited about the military and committing himself to his country.
Neighbor Ryan Ohlendorf says Christofferson was like a big brother to him. The 16-year-old says he didn't want to believe the news when the family told him last night his friend had been killed by a roadside bomb.
Christofferson is the 89th Wisconsin serviceman to be killed in Iraq since the war began in 2003.
