The director of state parks in Wisconsin says gas prices nearing $4 a gallon are not scaring campers and their big rigs from state parks.
Bill Smith of the State Department of Natural Resources says advance reservations for camping are up 7% from a year ago. Smith says Memorial Day weekend traditionally kicks off the summer season and campgrounds in the state parks will be full like they always are.
He says rising gas prices may cause some families to rethink their vacation plans and plan shorter trips, creating greater demand for camp sites in state parks.
