We now know the name of the man who's body was found in the Chippewa River in Rusk County.
The Rusk County Coroner has identified the body as 30-year-old Russell Nielsen of Rice Lake. Initial autopsy results show Nielsen died from drowning. The coroner says there were no signs of unusual trauma or foul play.
Nielsen disappeared in early April. On Thursday, a fisherman found his body in the water, about a mile north of the County Highway A bridge, which is about 3miles downstream from where Nielsen's van was found on April 5.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The family of a Rice Lake man who disappeared is waiting for answers as another day passes with no sign of him.
30-year-old Russell Nielsen's family reported him missing April 5. They found his SUV, hat and coat near the Chippewa River in Rusk County, about 10 miles north of Bruce.
Sheriff David Kaminski says Nielsen grew up in that area, but his family didn't know what he was doing at the river.
Kaminski calls the search for Nielsen a shot in the dark. He says the department doesn't know if he fell in the water, got a ride from a friend or is lost in the woods.
