A Holcombe man is dead after a motorcycle crash north of Cornell.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says just after midnight, 39-year-old Scott Cummings was riding a motorcycle on County Road CC.

Officers say the marks on the road show he was going north, then went off into the ditch, and down a steep embankment. Cummings was thrown from the bike.

He died at the scene.
