A La Crosse teen is facing felony charges involving nude photos of a 16-year-old girl that he posted on his MySpace page.

Seventeen-year-old Alex Phillips made an initial appearance in La Crosse County Circuit Court on charges of possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child and defamation.

Authorities acted last Saturday on a tip from police in Janesville and confirmed that there were two photographs of the naked girl on the Web page.

According to the complaint, Phillips was told he could be jailed for posting the photos but told police he would still keep them on the page.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled next Wednesday.

I don’t think that a 17 year old with pictures of his (most likely) 16 year old girlfriend should be charged with possession of child pornography – that is ridiculous. I agree that the pictures shouldn’t have been posted against her will, but MySpace is a voluntary website. If it's against the rules to post naked pictures, they should remove them. Also, if you don’t want to go there, you don’t have to. The police shouldn’t be as worried about what kids are putting on it as their parents!! That is the problem with situations like this. Where is this kid's parent or guardian?

I agree with "someone's" comment. I'm sure these law enforcement could find A LOT more than this and also be able to bust some drug cases!

I think the police should look at more of the kid's my space's and they would find more things then just nude pictures on the my space's.
