SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- A teenager who got his driver's license two weeks before his vehicle hit a 6-year-old boy in the parking lot of a Sheboygan gas station won't be charged in the child's death.
Denzel Payne died of his injuries a week later at Chlidren's Hospital of Wisconsin in suburban Milwaukee.
Sheboygan County District Attorney Joe DeCecco said Wednesday the 16-year-old driver was going only 5 mph and should not be held accountable for the boy running in front of the car.
The child was running with his brother from the convenience store to their parents at the gas pumps when he was struck May 7.
