More than 60 Amish people from Wisconsin and New York now call Indiana's rural Crawford County home.

Emanuel Bontrager is an unofficial spokesman. He says the Amish moved to southern Indiana after their two groups corresponded about forming a new community and sought a central location.

According to Bontrager, the move required hiring more than 20 semi-trailer trucks in November to ship horses, buggies and household belongings.

Bontrager is an Iowa-born cabinetmaker who lived in Black River Falls in west central Wisconsin before making the move to Indiana.

He declined to discuss details of why his Wisconsin group decided to move, except that things just weren't out there.
