Eau Claire parents who worry about lunch checks being misplaced in backpacks can now take matters into their own hands using the Internet.
The Eau Claire school district is using mylunchmoney.com, a Web site that allows parents to make deposits to their children's accounts online.
During a two month trial period at the district's middle and some of the elementary schools, parents have made $23,000 in deposits.
"They have an automatic payment feature so I've just set that up with both myself and my child that when the balance gets to a certain amount, my charge card is automatically charged so really, I don't have to worry about lunch money any more this year," says teacher and parent DeAnna Slaggie.
School officials say in the future, the site will also list what students are choosing for lunch. If parents would like that information now, they can contact the school cooks.
