A bill currently being considered by the legislature's joint finance committee would provide an incentive for businesses to send their employees back to school. Assembly bill 297, proposed by Rob Kreibich, would reimburse businesses for 50 percent of tuition for employees attending either tech schools or universities.
Kreibich calls the bill a creative way to provide financial aid for working adults.
"Given the fact that the economy is rapidly changing and people are in need of constantly having to upgrade their skills we think this is important not only to the individual but to the state of Wisconsin as well."
The cost to start the program is estimated to be around $20 million, but Kreibich calls it an investment to bring higher paying jobs and keep more qualified workers in the area.
