I have removed two plastic peanut butter jars from two separate raccoons this summer. They will come to you for help if they need it. Stand still and call them like a dog. They will come close enough for you to remove the jar. Let them come to you DO NOT CORNER A RACCOON EVER. Pull the jar straight up and the weight of the raccoon will release the jar. Make sure you have room to back up after removing the jar so raccoon does not feel threatened. They will stand there for a minute to thank you then walk away.
