A state representative has proposed a student bill of rights for all students in the University of Wisconsin System.
Democratic Representative Marlin Schneider of Grand Rapids proposed the bill this summer. It is currently before the committee on post-secondary institutions.
The bill would take away tenure or six months' pay from faculty members if their advice was shown to keep students from graduating on time.
The bill would also require timely notification to tell students whether they've been accepted to courses they registered for and how they did on exams.
It also calls on the state to set a maximum weight on textbooks to be used by students.
