A University of Wisconsin study shows that Eau Claire County is once again third in the state when it comes to quality of life and longevity, and ninth in terms of choices that determine good or bad health.
The results were similar last year, though health experts say the study's more detailed look at health care worked in Eau Claire County's favor this time around.
They attribute the results to health conscious people, and ongoing efforts to maintain good health.
"It really does come down to individual choices," said Jim Ryder of the Eau Claire City-County Health Department.
"Health care providers do have an influence over their patients, and we would hope in some small way that the health department has an influence as well"
Some of the areas experts say Eau Claire county needs to improve on are binge drinking, sexually transmitted disease, and pregnant smokers
