2 sex abuse claims against archdiocese dismissed

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A judge has dismissed two sex abuse claims against the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

The archdiocese argues that it should not have to compensate claims that are beyond the six-year statute of limitations for fraud and those that are not tied directly to an archdiocese employee.

Abuse victims and their attorneys say the effort to have some claims dismissed is "legally and morally" wrong. The clergy abuse victims represent the largest number of creditors in the archdiocese's bankruptcy case.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports federal bankruptcy Judge Susan Kelley threw out one case because it failed to show fraud and the other case because there was reason to suspect fraud years ago, but no action was taken.
