Wisconsin State Patrol WIll Soon Write Speeding Tickets Faster And Faster

The Wisconsin State Patrol writes a million tickets a year. That number could go up now that cops will have technology that speeds up ticket-writing.

The Patrol is equipping all squad cars with printers that produce tickets with a push of a button. The technology means troopers won't have to write the tickets by hand.

A trooper who stops a vehicle can enter the driver's license information into a computer linked to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

If the trooper decides to issue a ticket, the technology will enter the name, address and driver's license number on an electronic ticket that the trooper prints in the car.
