Land Once Owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson Donated in Burnett County

An Illinois couple donated land around Bass Lake in Burnett County to a conservation land trust.
The land covers was once owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson and covers 25 acres along the lake. It is valued at more than $400,000.
Seventy-one-year-old Jack Holmbeck of Rockford says he has fished Bass Lake since he was nine years old.
He and his wife bought the land nine years ago when they heard a developer wanted to turn it into lakefront housing.
