22 tons of prescription drugs given in Wisconsin to be destroyed

(WEAU) - More than 22 tons of prescription drugs are now in an incinerator where they'll be safely disposed of now.

The Wisconsin National Guard took nearly 46,000 pounds of it from the statewide Drug Drop Off day to an incinerator in Indianapolis. The 44 pallets went onto semis the guard provided.

It says it’s happy to help keep the drugs out of the hands of abusers, out of landfills and out of the water supply.

Since the drug take back program started, the government stats show people have disposed of more than 2 million pounds of drugs.
