Two 21- year old La Crosse men have turned themselves in to La Crosse police after a five year old girl was injured after being hit by a stray bullet late last night.
The girl is in serious condition, but her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
A five year old girl was fast asleep in her bed on the north side of La Crosse until she awoke bleeding from the arm.
"Approximately 10:30 last night we responded to a call from a local hospital about a girl who was seriously injured from a gunshot," La Crosse Police Captian Robert Abraham.
La Crosse Police determined the shot came from the upstairs apartment, through the floor where it struck a five year old girl in the arm.
Two neighbors said they did not hear the shots, but awoke to police cars lining the streets and officers entering the apartment armed with rifles.
"We entered the apartment with a search warant but did not locate any individuals, but we did find drugs and firearms inside," Capt. Abraham said.
Police were searching for 21-year old Brent Rossman and 21-year old Dylan Brown in the Copeland Avenue apartment.
Police say the shooting appears to be accidental, but both men turned themselves in on tuesday.
"They are being held in the La Crosse County jail on weapons and drug-related charges," Capt. Abraham said.
As for the little girl. Police say she's still in serious condition, but her injuries are not life threatening.
