Wisconsin Rapids Traffic Runs Afoul Of Animal Carcasses

Animal carcasses and parts dumped on the Riverview Expressway in Wisconsin Rapids gave motorists a smelly rush-hour detour Monday afternoon. Now authorities are hunting for whoever dropped the material to the pavement.

Police Lieutenant Dave Wesener said investigators had not determined how the incident happened or identified who was responsible. He says officers got a partial description of the truck but had not located it.

Police blocked a part of the expressway about 4:00pm and required westbound traffic to use the left turn lane to avoid the mess.

The city street department brought in a front-end loader to clear away the carcasses and other animal parts and scrape the pavement clean.

Wesener says workers did a good job of cleaning it up.
