Tax season is here and it's only a few weeks away before everyone is sending off their tax returns to the IRS.
This year, people have a couple extra days to procrastinate.
Taxes are due Monday, April 17, not the15 since the 15th falls on the weekend this year.
IRS agents want you to keep an eye out for certain people as you look for someone to prepare your returns.
Janet Oakes, am IRS Criminal Investigator says there’s a number of things to look for when choosing your tax preparer.
“One thing to look out for is if they're proclaiming to get a larger refund than other people or for some reason they ask you to sign a blank tax form.”
IRS agents add, when choosing your tax preparer, people need to treat the situation similar to when choosing a doctor or lawyer.
