In the summertime, you'll see lemonade stands from time to time.. But there's one little stand where the glasses are definitely half full -- and their hearts are overflowing. We found out how successful these little fundraisers have been.
They're little… but they're making a big difference. This lemonade stand --- stands for something bittersweet. The kids from two Boys & Girls Clubs are teaming up raising money to help Angelo Poppe's family. He's the little boy who was killed in a La Crosse apartment fire in June.
"Today we had kids from the Huber Club over here who were friends with him,” says Mary Teclaw with the Boys & Girls Club. “They came and helped out and helped sell lemonade earlier today. They were happy with what we're doing."
The kids say they just want to help their friend's family.
Terrell Sanders, a volunteer says he thinks the fundraisers are doing a good thing “…because they're raising money for other people and last time they raised the lemonade for a boy named Angelo and he died in a fire."
Jed Furse says he feels good about selling lemonade to help others. When asked why, he says, “Because it's just good to help families and raise money."
Teclaw says while the kids are out here selling lemonade… they're learning how to make a difference.
"It would benefit anybody. If it was one of these kids, I would want another club to help and step up to help any family that's in need."
Teclaw says the kids have already raised about $150. They're selling lemonade every Thursday from 12 to 2:30 p.m. at 1111 7th Street South.
