The 49th Annual Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward include more than 20 events such as men's and women's log-rolling, chopping and the pole climb.
More than 100 lumberjacks compete for more than $50,000. That's the largest prize for lumberjack competition in the world.
The competition started in 1960 as a way to acknowledge the history of the logging industry in the United States.
About 10,000 people from around the globe are expected to attend the three day event.
