A Town of Ripon woman has died after falling and hitting her head while herding cows at the family farm.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Sergeant Ryan Waldschmidt says the woman and her son were rounding up some cows that had gotten loose Tuesday night. That's when a pole her son was using slipped from his hands and hit her in the face. The woman fell backward and struck her head.

An ambulance took her to the Ripon Medical Center and she was then flown by helicopter to Theda Clark Medical Center. She died there about three hours later.
