Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle knows when to take a pass on a hot political issue.

Doyle didn't take a side Wednesday when asked about the Brett Favre soap opera. The Green Bay Packers quarterback came out of retirement this week and now appears to be a candidate for a trade.

Doyle says it is hard to sort out the ongoing Favre mess.

He took a non-controversial stance, saying all Packer fans should be thankful that the greatest player in football played in Green Bay for 16 years.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain took a similar position when asked about Favre last week in Racine, saying Favre has provided the country with great memories.

McCain also said he wasn't dumb enough to take a position on Favre's future.

Seriously. What a stupid headline. To compare this ridiculous sports drama to "politics" should be embarrassing to whoever wrote that idiotic headline. Also, this is one of the first times Doyle has said anything remotely intelligent when opting not to comment on something.
