Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle knows when to take a pass on a hot political issue.
Doyle didn't take a side Wednesday when asked about the Brett Favre soap opera. The Green Bay Packers quarterback came out of retirement this week and now appears to be a candidate for a trade.
Doyle says it is hard to sort out the ongoing Favre mess.
He took a non-controversial stance, saying all Packer fans should be thankful that the greatest player in football played in Green Bay for 16 years.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain took a similar position when asked about Favre last week in Racine, saying Favre has provided the country with great memories.
McCain also said he wasn't dumb enough to take a position on Favre's future.
