Plans for a public ambulance service in one city are on hold.
The La Crosse Common Council president says the council will not consider an ordinance to form an EMS Commission. That commission would have worked to create a public ambulance service.
Council President Bill Harnden says right now the city and county have different versions of what the commission should be.
The city, county, and private ambulance provider Tri-State have held many formal and informal meetings to try and decide if the city should start the ambulance service or leave the EMS business to Tri-State.
