Former Eau Claire School District Superintendent Bill Klaus is requesting a public hearing in front of the School Board. Klaus' attorney, Tom Guelzow, says Klaus is requesting an open-door, public hearing because he wants a chance to tell the Board and the public his side of the story.

Last month, the Board of Education suspended Klaus from his position as Northstar Middle School principal. That unpaid suspension will last until June.

The School Board decided he'll then be transferred into some sort of administrative position. That decision came after three months of investigation and 13 closed session meetings.

The Board was trying to figure out if there was any wrong doing with how Klaus' contract was written and backdated. It would have allowed him to receive retirement money earlier than expected.

The date 08-08-08 for Eau Claire children, teachers and school board marks the date of change. The Eau Claire Area School district is now under "New Management" with Dr. Hellmann and School Board President Carol Craig. Mr. Klaus did not win his lottery on 08-08-08 of $800,000. This district stood strong, worked hard and came together to protect our taxpayer dollars - Thank You! Now, I challenge each one of you to step up and help this district. A change can't be made by just one person, it is a community effort. Schools need active participation of their community to thrive. Volunteer, your time - it is FREE Get involved, see how important schools are and remember this at referendum time. In our community, 75% of the population does not have children in schools. Our young people will invest and carry on a legacy and be caring for us one day. What are you going to leave behind when you are gone? Give back, give of yourself to your neighbor. I don't think he's going to like what the "public" are going to say about this situation. Unless you haven't been listening Mr. Klaus, the people of Eau Claire are rather angry with you for getting away with what little punishment you got!

He wants to tell his side of the story? He wants an opportunity to justify the falsification of the details of his contract? Is anyone else SICK AND TIRED of this criminal and his tales of woe? Well, guess what, Mr. Klaus? As taxpayers in the ECASD, we demand YOUR IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION and that of Carol Craig, as well, for participating in this blatant attempt to deceive the School Board and the taxpayers upon whose backs you wish to support yourself. What an indignant, self-serving crook...

I realize this story was just posted, but what does "requesting a public hearing" mean? A public school board hearing? A news conference? His "day in court"? Does he want the school board to lay out for the public all the reason why they chose to do what they did? I think this story just leave more questions unanswered than it answers...
