An old bridge went out with a bang.

This is the old Highway 27 Bridge near Augusta.

Shortly after 10am Friday morning, crews destroyed the bridge, because it's already been replaced with a new one.

The explosives were attached to steel girders so they would drop down into the river

The road was closed for about a half hour

The DOT says everything was cleaned up by early afternoon.
