Check out this photo! Bruce and Monica Robb caught this black bear on camera, looking like it was just waiting for someone to bring over a meal.
Bruce and Monica say the bear visited off and on for a couple of weeks. It would usually raid bird feeders or knock over garbage cans. But this time the Robbs say the bear crawled up on this picnic bench and snacked on some popcorn they had put out for the birds. Soon after the Robbs dog barked and the bear left but not before they got this picture.
Here is a high resolution look at the photo.
Here is Bruce and Monica’s story:
We are on the south end of Big Chetac, just east of the town of Birchwood. The bear had been visiting our property on and off for a couple of weeks. Usually he'd raid the bird feeders or tip over our garbage cans. At about 8 a.m. on this day he found a big pile of popcorn that I had poured onto the picnic table for the birds. He crawled up on the bench and sat down on the bench seat and then slowly ate the popcorn while looking out over the lake. He sat there a while after finishing his meal like he was waiting for a second helping. About then our chocolate lab, Bullet, got a whiff of him and started barking. With that the bear ran up the driveway and into the woods. We have not seen him since.
