State Unemployment Rate Drops in May

Wisconsin's unemployment rate dipped slightly in May.

The Department of Workforce Development figures show the seasonally-adjusted rate was 4.7 percent in May, down slightly from April. According to the department, it marks the lowest unemployment rate for the month of May since 2001. About 2.9 million people had a job last month with nearly 144,000 unemployed.

The rate dropped because more jobseekers looked for seasonal opportunities.
