Too High to Hear
It's a cellphone too high to be heard by some adults but perfect for teenagers when it comes to text messaging when they're not supposed to. Posted: 6:28 PM Jun 16, 2006Reporter: Teresa Moua Her |

It's annoying, high pitched, and most importantly, if you're an adult you may not be able to hear it....
Plus it’s getting popular among teenagers here in the states.
What is it? It’s a cell phone ring tone called the Mosquito.
The tone was created in Wales to keep kids away from certain stores.
Now the kids have turned and are using the super high pitch sound on adults.
The tone is downloaded from the web as a text message and saved.
Teens can then use it as a ring to receive text messages and calls when they're not supposed to, for example, during class. And, it works, because many adults can't hear it.
There are plenty of other adults who can but hearing and listening to the sound too much might not be good for the ears.
The normal range of hearing is 125 to about 8,000 hertz; however, doctors don't usually test higher than that.
