The people who run Wisconsin’s 4 national parks say there isn't enough federal funding available to keep pace with park expenses and definitely not enough to improve the parks.

Park officials of the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior blame gas prices. They say they're spending so much on boat fuel that they can't always afford to fill open positions.

The completion of the Ice Age Park and Trail is now dependant on private donations because of the lack of federal funding. Members of the Trail Foundation say it's tough to get people to donate toward the 1,200 mile-long trail because many people give to victims of Katrina and September 11 instead.
