When a graffiti artist strikes a building, it's hard not to notice.
The tag left often sits there leaving a mark that's not pleasant to the eye, or beneficial to the building's owner.
The Eau Claire Police Department is working on an ordinance that would require the property owner be responsible for removing the mark in a timely fashion.
According to the department there are 50 cases from the last 2 years that still haven't been removed and the community members are behind the department.
"They are supportive of an ordinance that would require the police department be notified within 24 to 72 hours and that the damage be removed in a timely fashion after contact with the police department," Sergeant Scott Barton said.
Barton hopes that a proposal wil be before the Eau Claire City Council later this year and in effect so the graffiti can be removed before the weather gets cold.
