Doug Sidie is now formally charged with murdering his ex-wife Alisha Sidie and hiding her body. Wednesday, a judge denied him bond and investigators revealed more about the night Alisha was killed.

Alisha’s sisters also spoke about the pain they’re going through. Tracy Rowlee and Melissa Sandoval say losing their big sister is the hardest thing they've ever had to try and deal with. But, they say they also lost a brother-in-law in Doug and that too is tough to handle.

Doug Sidie walked slowly into Jackson County Court, without a lawyer, to face a judge and to face Alisha’s tearful parents, sisters and friends.

"A lot of hate," is what Tracy Rowlee described feeling as she watched him walk in.

"I want him to be in prison for life," Sandoval told us.

But, Alisha's sisters say it's not that simple.

"It's very hard to look at him. At the same time, I loved him very much," Sandoval explains.

"We didn't just lose Alisha, we lost Doug too,” Rowlee adds. It's a lot of mixed emotions, a lot of confusion."

Most confusing for Alisha's youngest sister is how to answer the questions of the two little boys left with no parents to go home to.

"I can never understand why he did it to my sister, but another thing I’m having a hard time with is to say he loved those boys and sit there and tell them he's going to find mama when he knew all along that was never going to happen," Rowlee says.

"The emotions are tough. I cannot begin to imagine what the families on both sides are going through,” says Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox. “For us, on the investigative and the justice team, the law doesn't allow us a lot of room to get emotional about a case like this. It strengthens our resolve; I can assure you that."

Wednesday, Fox formally charged 39-year-old Doug Sidie with first degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse, eight counts of obstructing an officer and one count of misdemeanor bail jumping.

"I intend to gain convictions on the charges in the complaint and hold Mr. Sidie accountable for his actions," Fox says.

The criminal complaint says Doug Sidie told investigators he and Alisha were arguing at their Hatfield home the night of November 7. Sidie told them he grabbed a 22-caliber handgun off an ATV rack.

He said he walked toward the house as the argument continued. Then, at one point, he said, Alisha turned around to say something and he pulled the gun and shot her in the face.

The complaint says Sidie repeatedly denied any connection to his ex-wife's disappearance.

Investigators say one week after he reported her missing, he led them to a pair of latex gloves, Alisha’s buried purse and Alisha, leaving the 27-year-old's family with nothing but pictures of a beautiful smile.

"He may have taken my sister's life away, but he can't take the memories away from me and that's how she'll live on,” Rowlee says softly, but strongly. "She's in my mind and she'll never disappear out of there, or my heart.”

Fox says the 11 charges filed Wednesday are all the charges he intends to file in this case. The D.A. says Doug Sidie was not charged with child neglect because there was another responsible person in the house at the time with the twins. He won't comment on who that was, if they were asked to take care of the children, or if that person knew anything about what happened outside.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE FROM WEDNESDAY:

Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox charged Doug Sidie with one count of first degree intentional homicide, which carries a mandatory life in prison sentence. Fox also charged Sidie with one count of hiding a corpse, eight counts of obstructing an officer, and one count of bail jumping.
Prosecutors say Doug Sidie shot and killed 27-year-old Alisha Sidie on the sidewalk outside their Hatfield home on Friday, Nov. 7, after an argument.

According to the criminal complaint filed Wednesday, Doug Sidie originally told investigators the handgun was missing from his house. Divers later found the handgun in Morrison Creek. Doug Sidie told investigators he and Alisha were arguing, and the .22 caliber handgun was lying on an ATV rack.

The criminal complaint says Doug Sidie picked up the gun during the argument. It says Doug Sidie told detectives he started to walk back toward the house but they kept arguing. Doug Sidie then told detectives at one point Alisha Sidie turned around to say something when he shot her once in the face.

An autopsy listed her cause of death as traumatic brain injury. The complaint says Alisha Sidie was wearing a white shirt, blue scrubs, and tennis shoes when her body was found. That matches the clothing description Doug Sidie gave when he reported her missing. Investigators also say Doug Sidie led officers to Alisha’s purse, which he had buried and a pair of latex gloves.
Dozens of Alisha Sidie’s family and friends packed the courtroom; some of them crying during the court hearing.

Alisha’s sisters, Tracy Rowlee and Melissa Sandoval, say they’re devastated about losing Alisha and about losing their brother-in-law, Doug Sidie, whom they once loved. Both women also say they’re struggling to understand how Doug Sidie could do this to Alisha and Doug’s twin two-year-old boys. Melissa Sandoval says she wants Doug Sidie to be convicted to life in prison. Tracy Rowlee says she feels he won’t face true justice until he meets God.

A judge postponed the initial appearance until Doug Sidie is able to get a lawyer. The judge also denied any bail, so Doug Sidie will remain in the Jackson County Jail. He’ll be in court again on November 25.

District Attorney Gerald Fox says it's his understanding Doug Sidie's family members are working on getting him an attorney. He says the next pre-trial hearing will happen with or without one.

The D.A. says he plans to call witnesses at the next hearing. He says it's likely he'll call one or two investigators who were highly involved in case. He also tells WEAU 13 News that although he won't comment now, there is a lot more evidence will come out as case proceeds.

Tracy Rowlee and Melissa Sandoval say they’ll attend every one of Doug Sidie’s court appearances.
