This weekend thousands of hunters will be in tree stands all across the state. But, for one of those hunters, it's just another day on the job.

When Greg Miller heads out Saturday morning, he'll be bringing more than just his gun; he'll have a camera crew.

His show is called “In Pursuit with Greg Miller.” Opening day, Miller will be in pursuit of a Wisconsin trophy white tail.

"This time of year, you're lucky to catch me at home," he says with a chuckle.

The Bloomer native is just back from Kansas. Before that he hunted Texas, the Dakotas, Kentucky and Indiana. They’re all trips you'll soon see on the Outdoor Channel.

Miller got into outdoor journalism a couple decades ago. He started by writing dozens of hunting books and hundreds of articles for hunting magazines.

"It was one logical step to the next. I went from writing to video TV work for others to guest co-hosting and then eventually to getting my own show and it's only taken 22 years. I'm a 22 year overnight success story," Miller smiles as he tells us.

The reason for his own show: Getting his brother and son in on his hunts.

"I guess we hit a winning formula because it's been very popular," he says.

Miller and the boys track down their bucks three to four months out of the year. Then they show America just how they bagged the big ones… and sometimes even why they missed.

“Other people look at it and they're very envious and they want to do what I do and I totally understand that," Miller says.

But, he also says first and foremost his hunts are a job. A job that requires selling sponsorships in a tough economy and spending months and months chopping down hundreds of hours of hunting in the editing room.

"I don't look at myself as a celebrity. I do a job,” he says.

But even with 40 years under his hunting belt, Greg Miller knows there's nothing he rather do… or get paid to do.

“I wouldn't change anything,” he says. “Even with all the stress and all the headaches and all the sleepless nights, when I wake up in the morning, I still know I have the best job I could possibly have."

You can catch 'In Pursuit with Greg Miller' on the Outdoor Channel at seven o’clock Saturday nights. It also airs at 6:30 a.m. on Saturdays and noon on Mondays.

Miller says he's already signed on for another season. If you liked this season, he says you haven't seen anything yet!
